In this book,the author reviewed his recent investigations into the hydrogen bonding effects on excited state proton transfer,including excited-state single proton transfer modulated by single hydrogen bond,excited-state single (double) proton transfer modulated by double hydrogen bonds as well as excited-state multiple protons transfer modulated by intermolecular multiple hydrogen bonds (hydrogen bond chain). By monitoring the characterized vibrational modes of functional groups involved in the formation of hydrogen bonds and scanning the potential energy curves(surfaces) in different electronic states,it has been demonstrated that ESPT both within one molecule and between different molecules can be triggered by the strengthening of hydrogen bonds in excited states.

This book can provide reference for those who are engaged in the study of excited state process.
