Part 4 Case Study—How to Deal with the Checked Baggage Losses

When a foreign tourist group arrived in the airport in China,a tourist in the group discovered that his luggage was missing.What should the local guide do to help him?

Although the airlines should bear the whole responsibility in this case,the tour guide is committed to do as following.

(1) Take the tourist to the Lost Luggage Registration Office of the airport to report and register the loss.The tourist has to provide his flight ticket,boarding pass and luggage claim form,and state the departure airport,pieces of luggage and special markings on it,if any;

(2) While the group is visiting the local city,the local guide should often call the airport to inquire the result of their search for the luggage;

(3) When the luggage is not found for the moment,the local guide should help the tourist to purchase daily necessities.

(4) If the luggage is not yet found shortly before leaving Guangzhou,the tour guide should help inform the airline of the name of the travel agency,the entire travel route and the names of the hotels the group is likely to stay,so that the lost luggage can be transported to the most proper place when it is found.

(5) If the luggage does get lost,the local guide should help the tourist to claim compensation from the airline.
